Systems for pressure monitoring
in props of hydraulic longwall supports

Monitoring of pressure in props of hydraulic longwall supports may be a source of additional information on danger likely to appear in the longwall area. Rapid increase of support capacity in each prop corresponds to the increase of stress in the rock mass, i.e. as a result of a stop or slowdown of cracking process in the landslide area. Irregular roof support distribution may cause its damage and excessive cracking and, as a consequence, may lead to dangerous rock slide and other disadvantageous occurrences. Stationary MONSTER system can be used for continuous pressure screening of longwall supports and mining shields.

MONSTER System
Longwall shield and support monitoring in that system is comprehensive and does not only give information about pressure values in props. The system collects and provides information about values of the following parameters: initial support capacity (pressure) in props, working support capacity, pressure at the supply and run-off, displacement of beams, flow ratios. According to the measured physical value and positioning, the system allows to connect 5 types of sensors to the P-reX controller (parameters taken from the longwall entrance): pressure - supply, flow - supply, pressure - run-off, flow - run-off, pressure - control.

The system also allows to connect various types of sensors for a given section or to the bus, at the section level: pressure - left prop, pressure - right prop, pressure - PT beam support, pressure - NT beam support, pressure - NT rider, pressure - section run-off, pressure - section supply, pressure bus run-off, pressure sensor - bus supply, flow - section run-off, flow - section supply, flow - bus run-off, flow - bus supply, displacement - beam.
